After the girls left, Lukas whispered to Envie to come round the counter. After she did as he asked he scooped her closer and held her tight. She rippled in the blue lights. It was so pleasant now.
 
“Do I still make you ill?” he asked playfully, taking her hands to his mouth to kiss them each. He made her feel like Jello.
 
“You still make me want to swoon…” she laughed “but not ill at all.”
 
“That’s good because I have plans for you later.” He gave her a savage grin.
 
“You’re incorrigible.” She said with a laugh, and then kissed his lips. “But I’m really lucky to have you.”
 
“You are as lucky as I am.” He thought at her.
 
They both laughed at how strange that quirk still was to them.
 
“Gérard says we can come to dinner with him today if we want to.”
 
“Only if it’s a late dinner.” He said with a chuckle.
 
“I’ll let him know.” She said grabbing her phone.
 
“Allow me…” he said, taking out his phone. He called Gérard and left a message to the tune of being there around 9.
 
“Now can I convince you to close at 7:30?” he said silkily.
 
“Well….if you sing to me I might consider it.” She said with a sly smile.
 
“What should I sing and when?” he asked readily.
 
“That tune you were singing while getting ready. I only know it from you because I haven’t heard it before.”
 
“You probably haven’t heard it sung so out of tune.” He said with a laugh.
 
“Oh stop, you know you can sing well.” Envie said pushing his shoulder as if to make him go away when she had no desire to.
 
“It’s called Explorers and the group is called Muse. They are quite good.” Lukas confided. “But please, no singing until the shop is closed; I’m bashful.”
 
Envie laughed heartily at this! “Okay, after the shop closes then,” She said “for saving face.”
 
He smiled and said it was a deal.
 
More customers came and went but they had their eyes on each other constantly. A couple of times he thought something at her. She turned red and told him to watch himself. He was being a real devil with this thought to thought thing. She’d have to look up whether other people could read minds also. Was it called ESP? She thought so…
 
For now though, her ISP seemed to be down and she couldn’t connect to the internet. Thank goodness for Lukas; he kept her mind busy, sometimes in the most distracting ways…
 
Before she knew it the clock read 7:00 pm. The crowd had died down and they hadn’t had a customer come in for 20 minutes.
 
“I think I’ll close soon…”
 
Lukas grinned like a kid at the fair. “I was hoping you’d see my side.”
 
“I can always make you reimburse me for the money I could have made…” she said in a serious tone.
 
He looked at her and said “Oh really?”
 
She burst out laughing. “Boy, did I fool you!” she exclaimed.
 
“Did not, I knew you were joking.” He said.
 
“Ha!” she said.
 
Then he thought some very scandalous thoughts at her and shut her up.
 
They tried to talk to Gaston but he just put his head down. He went out but came right back so he was let in again, to sit on his perch.
 
“I may have to do something for him later.” She said.
 
“The vet?” Lukas asked.
 
“Sorta.” She answered.
 
At 7:30 they closed shop.
